Pharmacist Principalities vs GOD's Principalities.

During the YA Camp, the first topic of the sermon was Living The Life Without Compromise. We live in a world full of their own principiliaties, and we were taught all that eversince we were in our primary school. Basically, from very young, my thoughts were moulded by scientific models and theories - evolution, Darwin theory, where most of the scientific / medical principals actually are against the principalities of God!

I was reading this book called Counseling Friends In Need by HArold J Sala, where he wrote counseling people should be based on Biblical principals not on the world's wisdom. So this put me into deep thought. For 4 years of my pharmacy course, many things I learned had go against the teachings of God. The world had came out with so many millions of scientific explanations to why the world exists, why this disease occurs, why this, why that?? When I was reading the book, Harold compared the models of the world with the Biblical models:

FREUDIAN MODEL
Root of the problem: Victim of conscience or environment
Cure: Psychoanalysis ( 6-8 years)

MEDICAL MODEL
Root of the problem: Victim of chemistry: Mental Illness (like a virus from without)
Cure: Psychotherapy drugs

MORAL MODEL
Root of the problem: Violator of morality (standards too high)
Cure: Psychotherapy (talking cures)

BIBLICAL MODEL
Root of the problem: Violator of will of God
Cure: Confession, Repentance, Restoration, Restitution

Like I said, since young, we were grounded by the teachings of the world. So this totally puts me in a dilemma. How to be a pharmacist but at the same time I do not violate God's principalities? How should I counsel patients based on the Biblical values instead of what I have learned from all the Physiology, Pharmacology textbooks??

I was flipping my Bible for an answer from God until I came upon the book of Colossions 2:8

"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human traditions and the basic principals of this world rather than on Christ"

Later in verse 20-23: "Since you died with Christ to the basic principals of the world, why, as though you still belongs to it, do you submit to its rules. Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!? These are all destined to be perished with use, becasue they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, theri false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but htey lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence."

So Lord, I do want to live a life without compromise as a pharmacist. Help me to be a pharmacist which applies Your truth in my workplace. Really need Your Revelation...

I dun wanna work

It's June now...still waiting for the arrival of the letter of my posting. Initially I was really afraid to where I will get posted, but now the actual fear itself is to WORK!!! I seriously TAK MAU BEKERJA...Scared...scared...I have to face sick patients and death nearly every single day..Not only that, the life and death of the patients is in our hands...I'm not mentally prepared yet...Sometimes it made me wonder why did I ever took up pharmacy...oh the doubt!!!

God's Humbling Ways

Though I am His sheep, I’m still prone to stray,
So Jesus in love sends afflictions my way;
The lessons that come in this school of deep pain
Will teach me to follow my Lord once again!

SUFFERINGS: Does it mean GOD's eyes are closed?

Rape, sickness, accidents, death, floods, earthquakes, storms!! If God loves this world, why is there suffering? Did God close His other eye to the troubles in the world? Does God truly exists because if He really does, then the world would be a happy place!! Many questions of such has laid for us a road of doubt whether God does really exist in the world!!

First and foremost, I would want to reaffirm the truth that God truly LOVES EVERYONE in this world. God is here to save us at the first place, not to destroy us.

Now I’m gonna share with you the reason why sufferings is happening in this world.

First, let us go back to the beginning of the creation in the book of Genesis from the Bible. Initially God created Adam and Eve and God love them so much. God had gave them a very beautiful garden, called Eden where they can play and eat all the fruits from the garden. However, God had warned them not to eat the fruit from a tree in the middle of the garden. But Adam and Eve CHOOSE to disobey God and ate the fruit from that very tree. That’s where the sufferings of the world begin due to the disobedience of the first human beings. Since both Adam and Eve choose not to listen to God, so God had to step away from their lives. This is just how the world is like now. The world is in total disobedience. We choose to live by our own selfish desires and kick God away. Disobedience to God, living under the control of the evil desires of the devil is considered as sin. This sin has separated us from GOD. It is us who FIRST choose to step away from GOD due to our disobedience, not vice versa. Because of the human’s selfish desires, the world was sooooo corrupted. That’s where rape cases, robbery, killing, child abuse, abortions, drug addiction take place. These sufferings are the direct consequences of humans’s actions themselves not of God’s. For God’s initial plan is to prosper us, to give us a good life, a good future.."Jeremiah 29:11"..

Since the world was so corrupted, we actually deserved punishment and death for what we have done. But God doesn’t want to see His creation get destroyed. God had came up with a plan to offer peace to us. GOD came to earth in the form of a human being JESUS CHRIST, who is blameless and upright to bridge the gap between us human and HIM!
In the Bible, John 3:16 tells us thatFor God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have Eternal Life.”
That’s a GOOD NEWS to all of us. Jesus Christ had to undergo the sufferings of the world in order for us to go to Heaven. All our sins and faults had been taken to the cross where HIS Blood was shed in order to forgive us.

Jesus had died for the world, for the drug addicts, rapists, liars, murderers…just to forgive us eventhough we actually do not deserve it!

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, full in love, He will not always accuse, nor will He be angry forever, He does not treat us as our sins deserve, or repay us to our wrongdoings” Psalm 103:8-10

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes God allows sufferings to happen is because the world’s heart is so HARDEN. Imagine a little child refuse to listen to their mommy and daddy over and over again! Than there’s where discipline comes in. God does not intend to allow sufferings at the first place, but since the world would not listen, thinking that they can lead their life better without GOD , they are actually going nearer to the path of destruction, and the only way to make people realize that they need to come back to God is thru SUFFERING! It is a WAKE UP CALL! An ALARM CLOCK to the world…If the entire world is obeying God, trusting Him, relying on Him, there wouldn’t be a WAKE UP call after all…
Jesus had came to save the world, but the world seems to refuse Him, so...

“The Lord disciplines those He loves….” Hebrews 12:6 tells us that just as the father disciplines his son, so Our GOD discipline us too for our good…

I don’t think that every parent loves to hit their children for their wrongdoings. But what happen if the little child never learn?? Discipline will be the last resort…God’s heart hurts to see us like this but if there’s no discipline, then we are all on the way to destruction, which is HELL!! Whether we like it or not, HELL does exists….and GOD does not want us to end up there…for HEAVEN is waiting for us…that’s where our ETERNAL LIFE is ( just like in John 3:16)..

"Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save;Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God;And your sins have hidden His face from you,So that He will not hear" Isaiah 59:1-2

God has indeed reached out HIS hand to forgive us, to offer peace with us. God does not require us to do anything to earn HIS love, He just wants us to reach out our hands to His' because HIS LOVE had existed long time ago, until now, and FOREVER...And God does not force us to love Him either, He loves us so much that He give us the choice to make:love Him or disobey Him.

"If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." That's a promise from our loving GOD in book of 1 John 1:9.
When the new heaven and earth comes, God had promised us this : " He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" Revelation 21: 4

WALK OR PAY-LA!!

I think that EVERYONE should know that the price of petrol had increased about 0.78 sents a litre...fuh...The news was announced yesterday, and EVERY I mean, EVERY petrol station were flocked with cars, motorbikes FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!! The petrol stations nearly run out of fuel too!! The petroleum industry in Malaysia had made their first HISTORY of BIG BUSINESS...only for yesterday nia...summore before 12am leh...I bet the workers there are pretty stressed up with the amount of customers which all of a sudden zoom in from every town, every kampung, every corner of Malaysia....The entire Klang town were pretty jammed up...so cannot go out anywhere...

Anyway, since the government tak mau subsidized ady, I wonder how does the automobile industry gonna survive? People will start to think twice now when it comes to buying a car when they see the BILL of the petrol they need to spend!!!! Wah...POKAI-lo!!

Nvm la...if kenot drive, then WALK-lo....u got two legs wert!!! *Thats what people say after the breaking news*. Sure a not? Imagine a person who drove for over 10 years, and all of a sudden he is stripped off from his "luxury"and have to walk!!!.. HABISLAH that fella....

Neway, cars are too PAMPERING nowadays...sikit sikit wanna drive ady, eventhough it's such a short distance....so it is TIME for Malaysians to EXERCISE their fat and lazy legs...*wink*

FOOTSTEPS TO CAMBODIA 3

Wutz up peeps...Sikarang, I gonna continue on PART 3 of my mission trip to Cambodia. I shared this post before in the GEPC blog, so now I share once again in my blog la....

As I mentioned earlier the BAray team is divided into 2 grps, so here are my geng:

Ps Rueben and CK

Sokha (interpretor) and me

Before I continued, I prayed as you guys read, God will speak and minister to you as well
Oh yea..do not miss out on the funny and hilarious moments occured during the journey yea....:P

So let's start with Sunday Morning.... We have to wake up early in the morning for the earliest (extremely early) church service ever at 7.00am am ( which Malaysians are busy snoring away)...We went to the Somrong church which is opposite our homestay, where we need to walk on a long narrow muddy path to the church.. The church is made of bricks and also nipah roofs (atap nipah). One thing we notice upon entry into the church is that though they lack of many kinds of equipments that GEPC has ( aircon, carpeted area, nice cushion chairs..etc), there's something they are rich in....They are rich in their faith...In other words, they are sufficient in God....

Somrong Church

Watching how the villagers worship really touched our heart. Despite the church lacking of many things, they still choose to worship and praise God and be thankful for whatever they have...
One thing I’m truly amazed about them is that when the pastor/leader ask anyone to come forward to give encouragement/ testimony, some of them just stood up and come forward without a second thought. You can see the eagerness in their faces oso. This is unlike the GEPC style, or maybe the Malaysian culture: First we will pandang kiri, then pandang kanan, kiri again then " Oh got people go, ok la..next is my turn".

These people are truly amazing, you can see the excitement in them to come forward to express their love and give glory to God ( i would say the desperation to give thanks to God) They would not care how people would think or look at them. Kawan kawan sekalian, kita patut contohi sikap mereka yea....

A woman came out to sing a psalm, while a blind man played his er-hu to accompany her. Everyone joined in along, clapping their hands and also singing. It’s just wonderful and fantastic watching them. I guess this is what God wants us to do, to freely worship Him, without thinking much….Just worship Him for He deserves all the praises. Sometimes, even as Christians, even me personally, I will think much even when I come to worship God. I would think that, will these words be appropriate, or if I kneel down what would people think, what happen if this, what happen if that..…Worship does not seems to be natural anymore with that kind of attitude...
During the worship, although we dun really understand the lyrics in bahasa Khmer, I know that God totally sees their heart of worship....:)

Pastor Rueben shared an amazing testimony during the service. He shared about how his mother went through the distress of giving birth to him. He shared also about his life of growing up to be the man God wants him to be...Ps, Rueben, we (GEPC) are so blessed to have you around...:)

Ps Rueben sharing

As the first service over, we got some rehat time (few minutes nia), before the second service starts which is the youth/children's one.

During the children service, we started with some icebreakers where we need to know each other's name... one boy even have difficulty pronouncing Ps Rueben names...it turned out to be GOLDBERT!!! All of us were laughing non stop upon hearing Pastor's new name...
The praise and worship sessions were enjoying especially watching them singing and dancing endlessly. We wouldn't miss out the fun so we joined in along.

The children were excited to praise God

Ice breaker session..Thats where the name GOLDBERT came about...

Bump into a young talent, Jeremiah

Later, CK shared on something very encouraging tot he youths and the children there. He says that no matter how young we are, God is still gonna use us for His plans. He shared the examples of David ( s teeny weeny size dude which whack the King Kong Goliath with a sling shot) and even Little Timothy as well on how God had used them for His glory...

CK sharing

Somrong Youth

We had our 3rd service later at 2pm in Boeng Village ( Fishing Village)...The place is kinda far, so 4 of us have to sit on a tut tut to get there... Upon starting the journey, the tuttut have some difficulty of going up the slope. The driver turned behind and says “TOO HEAVY. KENOT MOVE!! We all look at one another for a moment…and then I guess through the conviction of the Holy Spirit, Ps Rueben and CK stepped down from the tuttut.... hahahha and as soon as they step down from the tut tut, HALELUJAH, the tut tut starts to move...

Tuttut

We had a bumpy and scary ride to the village. Every cars, motorbikes and vans were like F1 drivers on the road, they will hon at one another non stop and would not give way to the rest..The tuttut looks so vulnerable and if you don't hold tight, you might get thrown off the vehicle along the bumpy road. Not only that, road accidents happen everyday due to lack of safety measure from the government as well the people themselves. Anyways, Thank God for His protection whenever we travel on the road.

Weather was extremely hot in Cambodia....However, the weather did not hinder God's people from coming to church. The villagers were ready to worship the LORD although the temperature was rising. In this village, I was blessed with an opportunity to share so I shared to the villagers about how to trust God and putting all our worries and fears aside.

The church in Boeng Village
( Is actually a kindergarden which is used as a church on Sundays)

Do you see a wheel-chaired man in the picture above? His name is Tohl. He was involved in a road accident where his horsecart was bang by a vehicle from behind, smashing him against a tree, leaving him coma for 9 months in the hospital. Now he is half paralyzed and suffered from sores too. He has 3 children who is very young who could barely take care of him. So do keep him in your prayers:

Pray for God's healing upon his spine and sore
Pray that God will provide finances to pay for his surgery
Pray that God will provide someone to take good care of him
Pray that God will continue to strengthen him spiritually, mentally and physically

Houses in BoengVillage (about the size of a normal bedroom)

A village girl

Later in the evening, we went for an oxcart ride to a place to tengok sunset...yea I know Joann mentioned that Jasmine and me kena "dikejar" Ox. The story goes like this...Aunty Esther( the woman in charge of us), Jasmine and me were walking happily in the lorong...then suddenly we heard bells ringing from behind. As soon as we look back, we say an oxcart coming towards us....Scared after dipijak the ox, first thing to do is normally to "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE"...All of us ran for our life, is just that both of them ran straight ahead for cover, and only me so gong gong jump into the bushes beside the lorong...pandai rite!!!??? there you go, that was the story...

Me driving an oxcart with my little sifu.

On the way, we met some village kids,

No toys, no Barbie dolls, just sands for them to play with...

The children were happy to meet and play with us . Being there with them makes a difference in their lifes.

Where we were "chased" by the oxcart

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember that I mentioned bout the bugs n beetles in the village!!!...So be prepared with the tools and gadgets to whack them..Both Jasmine and me had a battle against the insects..Hundreds of them were flying around trying to attack us. They try their very best to seep through the mosquito nets. Out of desperation we smacked the little fellas using our passports, torchlights, books and even the Bible while screaming away "In Jesus Name".. It's definitely a big challenge to sleep with these bugs when you are not in your own comfortable bed back at home.Nevertheless, it's quite fun too....Jasmine even 'converted' a lizard and make the lizard said its "sinner's prayer"...

This is what you need to prepare for war against the insects and bugs

After the oxcart ride we had a wonderful and fun fellowship with the youths at nite..Will share bout that later yea, till then...ciaoz
